Poem #34 = Set Your Mind Free

One of the mental illnesses I was diagnosed with was Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Now everyone experiences anxiety from time to time, but I wanted to share what it feels like for me. Not sure I captured that but this is what I ended up with.

Set Your Mind Free

In the heart's forest, when worries creep,

It's like a river that's really deep.

Imagine a bird stuck in a cage,

Feeling trapped, in a never-ending rage.

It's like thunder in a sky so calm,

Thoughts racing like a bomb.

Picture a ship lost at  sea,

Feeling helpless, not knowing where to flee.

Think of a puzzle missing some pieces,

Or trying to hit a target that never ceases.

It's a web where thoughts get stuck,

An unseen battle, that runs amok.

Picture a scared dog's fast heartbeat,

Hearing whispers no one else can meet.

With lots of questions, answers far away,

It's a battle you fight every day.

And as the sea's waves crash and roar,

In the surf, you're tossed, wanting the shore.

But remember, there's strength to find,

A spark of hope in your mind.

Courage you can't always see,

You can face the storm and set your mind free.
